Hello GCC Students!
The fall semester is almost here! The first day of school is August 29th, but there are a lot of interesting things happening in the world of transfer.
Here are some important things that are happening:
Many CSU campuses are open for spring 2017. Applications to start at a CSU for spring 2017 are from August 1-30. PLEASE check to see if you meet the requirements for spring transfers since some restrictions may apply. Visit the following link to learn about which schools are accepting applications and what requirements you need to apply.
CSUN will be open spring 2017 for students who will earn an AA-T or AS-T (SB 1440/STAR Act), nonresident transfers, and veterans/military service members. Students have up to the end of fall 2016 to complete the requirements for their degree. The degree has to be “deemed similar” to the major they are applying for. Please read the specifics below.
Students first need to submit an inquiry form through CSUN’s website and after 5-7 days they will get permission to submit their application through CSU Mentor. Here is the link to the inquiry form:
The Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) is a program that guarantees California community college students admission to one of the participating UC campuses (UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Santa Cruz) if you meet the eligibility requirements and complete the online TAG application.
In order to be eligible, at the time of submission, you must have completed a minimum of 30 UC transferable units with a certain GPA as required by each university and/or major. The TAG Matrix provides a list of participating campuses, eligibility criteria, and campus specific notes.
The application is available now and is due on September 30th to be considered for fall 2017. In addition to submitting a TAG by September 30th all students must submit a University of California Admissions Application by November 30th. Remember, you can only apply to TAG one UC school, but can apply to as many UC’s as you wish.
The UC application is NOW open for you to begin completing. You cannot begin submitting the application until November 1st and it is due November 30th. The website is: https://admissions.universityofcalifornia.edu/applicant/login.htm?
The USC application is now open on the Common Application. You can begin applying and submitting the application. The due date for most majors is February 1st and the deadline for majors in Cinematic Arts, Theatre, and Music is December 1st.
The Transfer Center will have a variety of workshops in the fall to assist with the applications.
The Transfer Center is closed in the summer and will reopen on August 29th. If you need transfer assistance prior to that, please come to the Academic Counseling Center and ask for a transfer counselor.
